Aircraft by designer Daphnis Fournier aims to be the first fully
electric passenger plane, utilizing an inflatable structure above the
main cabin that contains flexible photovoltaic panels to collect solar
energy while flying above the clouds. For efficiency during take-off
(when the most power is lost) the “balloon” remains flat, inflating only
